Patricia and Kimberley Hubick
Our Story
We are a volunteer driven non-profit organization. Our main focus is the preservation of SMHC
historical artefacts and legacy.
The
Archives
Committee
was
formed
in
1999
with
the
primary
objective
to
preserve
the
rich
history of mental health care at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre.

arranged
through

Secretary
by

An
oral
history
of
SMHC
has
been
gathered
with
a
tremendous
amount
of
information
from
Charles
Bernard.
Charles
began
working
at
the
Centre
in
1931
and
was
the
founding
President
of the Manitoba Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association in 1960. Charles died in 2006
The
archive
collection
is
located
in
the
Administration,
the
former
nurses
residence
and
school
of nursing. We have 3 rooms of memorabilia, scrapbooks and photographs.
The Hubick Family
The
Hubick
Family
bequeathed
a
generous
donation
to
the
SMHC
Archives
Committee.
Their
generosity
will
help
us
towards
achieving
our
aims.
Patricia
Hubick
worked
at
the
Selkirk
Mental
Heath
Centre
as
a
medical
secretary
for
over
25
years.
After
her
retirement,
Pat
joined
the
SMHC
Archives
committee
as
one
of
the
founding
members
in1999.
She
was
an
active
member
and
occupied
the
role
of
committee
Secretary.
Patricia
died in 2015.
Kimberley
Hubick,
Pat’s
daughter,
worked
at
Selkirk
Mental
Health
Centre
for
35years
in
the
Occupational
Therapy
department
and
in
1999
Kim
also
joined
the
SMHC
Archives
committee
occupying
the
role
of
Treasurer.
Kimberley
died
in 2016.
