The

Committee

is

taking

on

a

major

project

to

preserve

the

graduate

photographs.

All

ori

-

ginal

68

pictures

are

fading

due

to

environmental

conditions.

They

will

be

removed

from

their

frames and copies made.

The copies will be re-framed for display and the originals will be preserved for prosperity in archival folders. It is anticipated the project will be finished by the end of 2019, early 2020, so the pictures may be uploaded to our web site. This will give a better viewing quality of photographs.

UK 100 Years of Nurse Regulation

December 23rd, 2019 celebrates the 100 years that the General Nursing Council England & Wales started their registration of nurses in 1919. The first UK nurse to be registered was Ethel Bedford Fenwick. Ethel also founded the International Council of Nurses. Interestingly, Florence Nightingale, the “Nursing Champion”, was totally opposed to nurse registration and refused to be entered onto the register.
